The birth of rapping, turntablism, breaking, graffiti….New York in the late 70s / early 80s was the creative melting pot that spawned the four elements of Hip Hop. There was another side though, one of poverty and violence…..the daily struggle of those living in the big apple during these time was not an easy one for many….this documentary looks like a stark reminder of the struggle that was daily life for New Yorkers in 1981, A Most Violent Year.
Awesome animation from Big Lazy Robot visual effects studio.
i know the miniature thing has been done before, but Thomas Doyle does things a little different from what I’ve seen before…and it’s pretty interesting…..
If you don’t know Benji Blunts work, you need to head over to his website and check out his skills. His work is truly next level, with an attention to detail that isn’t often seen in this age of disposable everything. For this project he’s customised some Superstars for B-Girl Terra, and amazingly talented breaker (check out her skills HERE).
Watch this space for an up and coming project that Benji is going to be working on for me…..
As much I rue the loss of most true independent sneaker stores in the UK, I’m glad that JD have kept the Footpatrol name going, and employed such a nice chap as Jimmy to head up the store. In this short video, Lester Jones (I dig your sole man) documents some of Jimmys’ thoughts on the retail space, and eludes to what’s in store for the brand in 2014.
A mate of mine, Bear, is slowly venturing into the world of video after learning the ropes on the still side of photography. Capitalizing on the recent stormy weather over here in the UK, he and his son headed over to the coastal town of Blackpool to document precedings. I think you’ll agree he’s managed to capture some pretty cool footage, and the inspired choice of using a classic Aphex Twin track for the score really adds something special.
Adidas really do have a knack for being able to work on new technology whilst keeping it true to their heritage and classic models…..I personally can’t wait to give these new stripped back ZX Flux a try.
