Yesterday was Crepe City in London, and was bigger than ever. I managed to shift a few pairs I don’t wear any more, so treated myself to a few pairs, one example of which was these Slam Jam Gel Lyte IIIs. MORE PICS AFTER THE JUMP
It took me a while, but I eventually managed to pick up a pair of the excellent BAIT Gel Saga Phantom Lagoons. I’ve probably said it before, but anything aqua or purple always grabs my attention but if they are both included on a classic silhouette, I’m sold. Whilst this release was limited, it was produced in enough numbers to ensure that there are plenty about on the reseller market and the prices aren’t that high….if you get the chance I would recommend picking a pair up….I certainly would consider a double up if the chance comes my way.

This shoe created some not insignificant hype…..it’s really nice to see a shoe being appreciated for the fact that it’s a solid colourway as opposed to a limited collaboration. Thanks God I held off from buying them, as I was lucky enough to find them for retail.
To mark the fact that 2013 is the Chinese year of the snake, Asics and New York sneaker boutique ‘Extra Butter‘ have teamed up on the ‘Death List 5’ project, a quintet of classic silhouettes designed to doff the proverbial cap to 5 of the worlds most deadly serpents. This video features details of the first two releases in the collaboration.
2 weekends, 2 swap meets and 2 very different experiences for me. Last week I was snowed under with manning my own table at 6Acre, this week I had the pleasure of attending the second Sneaks & Peaks event, held at Boxxed in Birmingham.
There was a fantastic mix of new, used and vintage kicks on sale as well as a good amount of apparel, customisers and artists displaying their work. The space was really well appointed with enough room for everyone to move around quite freely, although there were a couple of pinch points that clogged up the flow from time to time. The wet start to the day didn’t do the graff artists or the food vendors in the outside area any favours, but thankfully the sun came out later in the day and allowed everyone to make use of the external space.
Anyway, all in all a great day and I managed to pick up a couple of pieces for my crate (more pics to follow)….and finally, a massive shout out to the Sneaks & Peaks guys for putting on such a heavy event, can’t wait for the next one….and also to everyone I managed to chat with (too many names to mention, but you know who you all are 😉
MORE: WARNING THIS POST IF PIC HEAVY!!!
I’m ashamed to say that I’ve missed out on the last two Crepe City events since arriving back in the UK. This video documents the 2011 event (I’m assuming that the 2012 video will be dropping soon).
The GL III seems to have a similar hammering to the Air Max 87 of recent years….so many colourways and not many of them very good in my opinion. Sneaker Freakers Alvin Purple make up on the other hand is a stone cold classic for me. The mix of materials, and colour blocking make it one of my faves….this might be controversial, but I think it’s even better than Solebox’s effort (sorry Hikmet ;-))
