It’s been a while since I broke these bad boys out….I rediscovered them when trying to decide on my #top3challenge.

If you don’t know Benji Blunts work, you need to head over to his website and check out his skills. His work is truly next level, with an attention to detail that isn’t often seen in this age of disposable everything. For this project he’s customised some Superstars for B-Girl Terra, and amazingly talented breaker (check out her skills HERE).
Watch this space for an up and coming project that Benji is going to be working on for me…..
Having faced up to the fact that I am never going to find a pair of 576TL’s in a decent condition, my size and even less likely for a realistic price, I took the plunge and tried to emulate a close approximation using the New Balance 574 custom site.
Whilst the Pacific Green colour is a little darker than Teal, I’m still pretty pleased with the result and can’t wait to give them their first outing.
Having done a couple of all suede New Balance custom 574’s, I wanted to check out what the leather option was like. I also have a couple of saved designs with purple heavy colour blocking and wanted to check out how vivid it was in real life. This design helped me out with both questions…..the leather is good quality, and the purple is nice and vivid.
I am however, a little disappointed with the quality of this pair. The leather is badly bunched up around the toe box (especially on the left shoe). There are a couple of ‘over glue’ stains around the shoe as well…the faults are a little annoying, but not enough to send the shoes back.
I recently picked up my first pair of US Custom 574‘s and I was instantly impressed by the workmanship, quality of materials and shape (I was even accused of ‘toe pushing’ on my first TIA with them on…). It was inevitable that another addition to the crate was soon to follow, and this is example one of probably many more. I used the colours from the Gucci stable for the influence of this colourway. I’ve never owned, or felt any real affinity for the high end label, but have always admired their use of colours, so it was an easy decision to use their palette for these.

I’ve never really been a massive fan of the 574, but having received these US produced customs, I have changed my mind in a big way, the quality of the materials and the excellent shape make them stand out from their Asian produced counterparts.
