If there’s one thing that annoys the older shoe connoisseur, it’s when people buy shoes just to leave them in a box on a shelf for years…..shoes are meant to be worn….straight out the box and on the feet.
COUPLE MORE PICS AFTER THE JUMP
The pick of the pack so far for me. I have resigned myself to the fact that there are many things in life I will never have the chance to own, one such item is the original 35th Anniversary Superstar Vintage Footpatrols. The series dropped when I was still living in Manchester and without the means to be able to source a pair, this fact hurts every time I see someone wearing a pair. I have thought about spending a pretty penny on an eBay purchase, but would be too scared of getting stung with a fake pair…..there are many out there and by all accounts are pretty hard to spot.
This release, however was pretty easy to pick up (and still is looking at certain sites)….The superstar 80’s is my favourite shelltoe guise and burnt orange is such a good colour, with these facts in mind, it was a pretty easy decision to take the plunge and pull the trigger (with a little help from a good friend). Did someone say ‘doubleup’?
MORE /// GOODNESS AFTER THE JUMP
It’s a bit of lie to call these new, as I bought them well over a year ago….it’s not often that I buy a shoe and then sit on them for this long, but I have to be careful with these, I reckon they are going to be dirt magnets, and I don’t want to mess em up. The suede is buttery and the attention to detail is properly on point.

Taking their aesthetic cues from a classic 90’s footwear palette and utilising quality materials, the Footpatrol Reebok Classic High ‘On The Rocks’ is a shoe that should be represented in everyones crate. it’s surprising that the shoe was a bit of a slow burner and sadly overlooked by most….if you do see sense and realise you need a pair, you might just find a pair in your size over at FP headquarters.

As much I rue the loss of most true independent sneaker stores in the UK, I’m glad that JD have kept the Footpatrol name going, and employed such a nice chap as Jimmy to head up the store. In this short video, Lester Jones (I dig your sole man) documents some of Jimmys’ thoughts on the retail space, and eludes to what’s in store for the brand in 2014.
A perfect birthday present from my good pal Blanch….the Fila Footpatrol Trailblazers are a dope collaboration that had far too little coverage from the usual bloggershpere/media outlets IMO.
More dopeness after the jump
Footwear that reminds me of the good old day of my youth and love of hip hop always bring a smile to my face. This latest collab between Foot Patrol and Fila, bringing back the classic silhouette with some top notch materials was a must buy for me.
